Exelon (rivastigmine) is one of the cholinesterase inhibitors (along with aricept and razadyne). It is available as an oral medicine, or as a patch which delivers the drug through the skin. It has been approved by the FDA for treating mild to moderate dementia associated with Alzheimer's disease or Parkinson's disease. It can take up to 12 weeks before Exelon's full benefits are seen.
