Discussion Forum -- Applying for VA Aid & Attendance Benefit
This is a discussion forum on applying for the Veterans benefit "Aid & Attendance".

Aid & Attendance is a "pension benefit" and does not require service-related injuries to qualify. It provides money for Veterans and surviving spouses who require the regular assistance of another person in eating, bathing, dressing, undressing or taking care of the needs of nature. Most Veterans who are in need of assistance qualify for this pension. Aid and Attendance can help pay for care in the home, nursing home or assisted living facility.

On behalf of my husband I am in the need for the VA Aid & Assistance.

Are their case workers that I can contact to be an advocate for us or do I have to do this by trial and error.

I would like to do this with as little errors and confusion as possible.

Thank you...And thankyou to our service men and woman who fight for us and our freedom God bless you and you families.

Local chapters of the following organizations will help you apply for Aid & Attendance:
- The American Legion
- VFW
- The Purple Heart Society
Call the local or regional VA office to ask for contact information for a representative from those organizations that work with the VA office. They know the "catch phrases" to use and what kind of expenses qualify for reducing income to the limit. They can usually get your application approved easier than the average citizen.

If your loved one is older than 70, be sure to include a cover letter that points this out, and ask for expedited processing.

Do not go to or use anyone that wants to charge you for their services or sell you some kind of insurance -- it is against the law to charge you for help in applying. There are a lot of cons out there. Be careful.

(In the future, if you have more questions, please send an email -- see the "contact" button at the top -- You will receive an answer more quickly that way.)
