Alzheimer's care today
Peer-reviewed journal that provides information on dementia care practices that can be readily incorporated into the day-to-day activities of health care professionals, regardless of setting.

The needs of persons with Alzheimer's disease (AD) present unique challenges to health care professionals. Although there is presently no cure for AD, treatment is available. Contemporary interventions are increasingly person-centered--the goals are to maintain a familiar lifestyle, maximize quality of life and independence, and make use of the continuing strengths of persons with AD, thereby reducing excess disability.

This quarterly publication reflects these treatment approaches by providing clinically focused information on quality dementia care. The content of each issue is evidence- and experience-based, with a heavy focus on material that is of immediate practical use to nurses, rehabilitation professionals, administrators, and others working with persons with AD in institutional and community-based settings. Topics addressed include challenging behaviors, communication, activities of daily living, assessment, working with families, paraprofessional training, and many others.
